ARE YOU A PUBLISHING HOUSE?
We have published 22 titles under the Illustrated Publishing imprint, and printed more than 350,000 books. At this stage, we only publish books the we have written, designed and illustrated ourselves, and a few selected collaboration works.

WHAT KIND OF GRAPHIC DESIGN DO YOU DO?
We cover a range of disciplines from publication layout design, educational resource design and development, to publication illustration – especially children’s books. We do not do logos, marketing or branding, unless they are tied into the education or publishing industries.

HOW HARD IS IT TO BECOME A SELF-PUBLISHER? ANY ADVICE?

DO YOU COLLABORATE ON CHILDREN’S BOOKS?
I do, but it has to be the right project, at the right time. We have a bit of a waiting list at the moment - good things do take time.

I'VE STARTED WRITING SOME CHILDREN'S STORIES. HOW DO I KNOW IF THEY'RE ANY GOOD?
Children give great feedback, value you what they have to say – including the brutally honest comments that might fly your way. You don't have to go at it alone, it's important to connect with others. Writers groups, illustrators, seminars, and book events. Send it to a professional manuscript assessor and an editor. I always encourage people to submit their manuscript to publishing houses before going down the self-publishing road.

DO YOU MENTOR, OR MEET WITH OTHERS THAT ARE INTERESTED IN SELF-PUBLISHING?
